About Us
Our Mission
The St. Clair Butterfly Foundation (SCBF) empowers professionals and the young people they serve through innovative, evidence-based trauma-informed training and expressive arts programming. Aligned with the CASEL SEL framework and grounded in neuroscience, SCBF doesn’t just manage behavior—we help heal the underlying trauma that drives it.
Our trauma toolkit builds emotional regulation, resilience, and hope, creating lasting, generational transformation.

Our Vision
A world free of childhood trauma.

Trauma changes brain chemistry. It alters DNA. We fix it.
Chip and Lisa
The Love Story
that Sparked a Movement
Lisa and Chip St. Clair’s story is one of radical resilience, courageous vulnerability, and the healing power of love. As chronicled in their bestselling memoir The Butterfly Garden—soon to be a major motion picture—their lives are a testament to what’s possible when pain meets purpose.
After surviving one of the most harrowing childhoods imaginable, Chip discovered solace and strength through storytelling and the expressive arts. Lisa, though navigating immense personal loss of her own, became his anchor—proving that compassion, creativity, and connection can rewrite even the darkest chapters.

Together, they transformed their personal healing into a mission-driven legacy: the founding of the St. Clair Butterfly Foundation (SCBF). Drawing from their lived experiences, neuroscience-backed research, and a profound belief in the power of education, they’ve empowered nearly thirty thousand trauma-impacted youth and child development professionals to heal, grow, and thrive.

SCBF is more than a foundation—it’s a movement. A movement driven by science and led with heart.
